Open role
QA Automation Engineer
About the role
ITQuarks is an AI-first engineering partner. We ship web platforms, CMS builds, and production AI products (EigenVox, DocuGenius) for clients across Europe and the US - and quality is part of the delivery promise: weekly demos, written updates, and a clear definition of done.
We are hiring a QA Automation Engineer who works across the full testing spectrum: scripted automation where it pays off, structured manual and exploratory testing where human judgement matters, and AI tooling to make both faster. You will own quality on client web projects and on our AI products — including validating LLM-based features, where "correct" is not a simple assert.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain automated test suites for web applications (e.g. Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium) and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines
- Execute structured manual and exploratory testing: functional, cross-browser, responsive, and key user journeys on large-scale CMS builds
- Use AI tools in day-to-day testing — drafting test cases, generating test data, summarising failures, comparing screenshots, and improving bug reports
- Test and validate AI/LLM-based features: output quality checks, regression detection, and evaluation runs alongside the engineering team
- Validate frontend and backend functionality across pages, forms, APIs, and user workflows
- Document and track defects in Jira with clear reproduction steps, visual evidence, and context
- Identify and escalate UX, design, and accessibility concerns
- Provide structured daily updates to project teams
What we're looking for
Mandatory
- Experience in QA across both manual and automated testing of web applications
- Scripting ability in JavaScript/TypeScript or Python, with hands-on experience in at least one automation framework (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar)
- Practical use of AI tools in testing workflows - and sound judgement about when to trust them
- Cross-browser and responsive testing experience (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, mobile)
- Proficiency with Jira or a similar issue-tracking system; precise written communication
Preferred
- Experience testing CMS platforms (Umbraco, WordPress, or similar)
- API testing experience (Postman, REST clients, or scripted checks)
- Exposure to testing LLM-based applications or evaluation frameworks
- Basic CI/CD familiarity - running and reading test pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar)
